10 Best Data Recovery Software
Monday, 26 September 2011
In today's technology-dependent businesses, even small disruptions can render highly sophisticated machinery and information technology systems ineffective. Without a disaster-recovery plan and data backups, there isn't much that an organization can do when disaster strikes. Therefore it is vital that you implement a reliable and trusted data recovery software program to protect against the worst case scenario.

TestDisk

TestDisk is an effective and very powerful open-source tool for recovering your data. Not only can TestDisk perform basic file, but it comes with a host of additional functions which many systems don’t offer. With TestDisk you can recover your boot sector from a backup, rebuild your boot sector, copy deleted files from partitions to recovery media, and find lost partitions in dozens of formats to help you locate your lost data. It's a command line tool, but the menus and the documentation in the wiki should get you started without much trouble.

PhotoRec

PhotoRec is a companion program to TestDisk. This recovery tool won't mess with your partitions or help you rebuild your master boot record; it will, however, dive into your disks in a safe, read-only mode and ignore partitions and file systems in an effort to seek out your missing files. PhotoRec focuses on file types, is operating-system agnostic, and despite its name, isn't relegated to just photos and related media. Overall, PhotoRec is a powerful tool for quickly and safely copying your deleted files to another disk.

Recuva

Recuva is a Windows-based tool and also very user-friendly. When you run Recuva, you can resurrect missing files using either the file-recovery wizard or the application's manual mode. The file-recovery wizard is handy when you're sure your data is gone but you're not quite sure where it went or how to get it back. The wizard lets you narrow your search type to pictures, music, documents, video, or all files, and you can set the search location to everywhere on your computer, removable media only, in My Documents, the Recycle Bin, or a specified location. Recuva also includes a tool to securely wipe files you find, handy if you're attempting a file recovery just to ensure the files are actually dead and gone.

Recover My Files

Recover My Files is an advanced data recovery software made to recover deleted files and formatted or corrupt drives. Recover My Files works with all forms of digital media, including hard drives, USB media, Compact Flash, Smart Media, memory sticks and other forms of storage. A standard license of Recover My Files supports data recovery for most needed file types, and a professional license also includes support for MAC and CD or DVD recovery.

Restoration

Restoration is a tiny, no-frills, portable recovery tool. You can use it in all versions of Windows and Windows file systems. It lacks some of the advanced functionality of other nominees but does have basic file-name search and the ability to sort by file parameters such as size and filename. Despite its tiny size, it performed just as well as the other systems when tasked with restoring files from our test disks. Restoration weighs in at a mere 406k and would make a great addition to any Windows-based USB toolkit.

Undelete Plus

Undelete Plus used to be commercial software but has gone on a lengthy "limited time offer" freeware run. This file recovery app works on all versions of Windows. Like Recuva, Undelete Plus assigns a recovery probability to files it finds based on how damaged the file is. You can sort files by type, set filters based on time and size to avoid sifting through every deleted file on your disk, and keep folder structures intact when you perform your recovery.

Digital rescue

Data Rescue PC3 is effective and powerful hard drive recovery software that is polished, accessible and surprisingly easy to use. The disk recovery software is ideal for recovering lost data on a hard drive and external or removable drives. Despite converting Office documents into zip files during the recovery process, it is still a highly recommended disk recovery software, especially for more advanced, computer-savvy users.

Advanced Disk Recovery

Advanced Disk Recovery scans your entire system for deleted files and folders and gives you the opportunity to recover them. Hard drives, partitions, external devices, and even CDs and DVDs can be scanned for recoverable files using Advanced Disk Recovery. Two types of scans are provided. The Quick Scan uses the Master File Table and the Deep Scan uses file signatures. Once the scan is complete, you can either preview the files or recover them to the location you want. It is as simple as that.

Stellar Phoenix

Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery Software is designed to recover lost, deleted digital pictures/ images on removable media. Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery software is the most powerful photo recovery software that can recover all the lost photos in case of an accidental deletion, interrupted writing operation or corrupted storage media. The software is capable of recovering lost or deleted photos from all the popular storage Medias. Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery software helps you to recover the digital photos in just three clicks, select, scan & recover. It’s simple and easy but focused on media and not comprehensive to other files.

Total Recall

Novice-friendly but still robust, this file recovery tool simply performs well. Total Recall Data Recovery's very basic interface is barely more than five buttons and a display window. The program's well-written online Help guide not only explains functions, but also best methods for file recovery. Total Recall Data Recovery's drive scans are quick, but less so when scanning solid media such as camera flash cards. Found files are displayed by name and size and can't be opened. Standard image files have an optional thumbnail display which helps choose files to recover.

The Open Source War – Joomla vs Wordpress
Friday, 19 August 2011
Search Engine Friendliness Deciding on a CMS system can be a tedious task. There are many opinions and articles on the topic and the open source war is still ongoing. Wordpress and Joomla are arguably the biggest and most popular CMS systems available, and with good reason. Both Joomla and Wordpress have outstanding qualities and benefits in different perspectives. Deciding which would hold the most advantages for you needs some investigation and research.
Straight out the box Joomla’s default SEO settings are non-existent, but with a quick overview of the setup manual you can set up user friendly URLs and customise the meta-data of each individual page. Wordpress on the other hand is more of a plug and play option and a lot more SEO friendly. Google loves Wordpress, except of course when you have a fully customizable website, then the SEO responsibilities lie in the hands of the developer. Bottom line is that both CMS systems can be fully optimized, Wordpress just requires a little less work. However, if you do have the experience and knowhow, Joomla comes highly recommended.
CMS Usability Right off the bat, and thousands would agree, if you looking to set up a blog or simple blogger style website in under 24 hours, you are going to want to go with Wordpress. The Wordpress popularity is evident to this. The simple straight forward and very user friendly backend design will get you publishing content, creating pages, galleries and forms in no time at all. The downside is unless you have a good understanding of coding or have someone who can customise Wordpress you won’t be able to get away from the “blog” look and feel. Joomla unlike Wordpress is first and foremost a content management system (CMS) that is primarily used to build websites. If you are looking to build a corporate website, portal, intranet, online magazine, ecommerce, reservations or any other site that requires greater functionality, Joomla wins hands down. The disadvantage of Joomla is that it requires a lot more patience to master, which isn’t the biggest train smash. For a static website Wordpress is King, for more opportunities Joomla takes the crown.
In a nutshell Both Joomla and Wordpress have extensions and plugins to make building the ideal website and running it much less of a headache than in previous years. Social media integration and SEO are hardly comparable since both CMS systems have equal pros and cons depending on the user. That is what it boils down to – the end user. It all depends on what you want to do with the CMS system. If you want to add an affiliate program then Joomla will be the best option since you can easily add it the same way you would add an extension. If your goals call for a blog or even a more interactive website, Wordpress could be a viable option. This platform is highly regarded as the most streamlined publishing tool available, allowing you to get online fast with little to no technical knowledge. Joomla is better for managing a larger amount of more complex content. In the end, an expert user should be able to make the most of both solutions. With all the available plugins, Wordpress can be extended to the point where you wouldn’t know the site was power by a blogging tool. If this platform can’t deliver the functionality you need, a genuine CMS such as Joomla makes a great choice. The key is knowing what you need to get the job done and making the right choice from the start.

Successful Internet Business
Tuesday, 12 July 2011

What do Kalahari, Amazon.com and BidorBuy have in common? If you haven’t guessed then read on. These highly successful Internet businesses have a partner programme directed at webmasters who want to make extra money from their websites.

Often webmasters are misinformed about affiliate marketing’s potential, which, in effect, undervalues the lucrativeness of this type of referral matrix. Offering merchants’ products and services in return for a profit share has never been easier; you just need to partner with the right brands.

What do you have to lose as a merchant? The answer is, very simply, nothing at all. Once you set up your own affiliate programme, webmasters will sign up with you directly. There is no middleman. All you need to do is ensure you have chosen the right software programme to track your sales effectively and provide affiliates with accurate and transparent statistics. Modern affiliate software systems cater for every aspect of the affiliate sales process and can be trusted 100% to manage your needs and ensure that you continue to grow while letting technology do the hard work for you.

If you are a webmaster and don’t know what else you can do to increase your traffic and earnings, team up with some of the solid brands on the internet that offer attractive marketing tools and access to reporting. But always check out the commission structures and read the Ts & Cs so that you know when and how much you will get paid.

Why is South Africa still not convinced about affiliate marketing?

The concept is not new; it’s been around since the first businesses connected on the Internet. The problem is that South African companies are still skeptical about its profitability and, given the level of fraud and news of phishing scams online are, perhaps understandably, reluctant to take what they deem to be unnecessary chances.

Secondly, many people have been burned by bad experiences with overseas affiliate marketers and don’t want to be made a fool of twice.

Affiliate program management effectively addresses these problems by managing the entire affiliate process. Some software programmes are so sophisticated that they will run reports on programmes before you buy into them to give you an idea of their potential revenue. They will generate statistics with regard to sales, clicks and commissions so that you can keep an eye on things.

Choosing the correct operating platform will help you choose the correct partners. After all, the key to success is knowing what makes you money. For more interesting reading by Mediadigitalagency and other panel of experts CLICK HERE.

The SEO and Social Media Relationship
Tuesday, 21 June 2011

If you want a successful SEO or affiliate marketing campaign you have to acquire a professional SEO who doesn’t just stick to the traditional and basic formula. Digital marketing is a dynamic industry which is constantly growing in scope and knowledge. That being said, social media and SEO are now inextricably linked and you can’t look at them separately any longer. A SEO strategy can only be considered good when integrated with social media marketing.

SEO needs Social Media

Search engine optimization, at its core, is based on relevance and authority. Relevance comes from content that has the right keywords and concepts. One of the best ways to add fresh content to a site is through a blog and through community. Social media like comments, discussion forums and 'submit your story' type content drives growth.

Authority comes from links. Implementing SEO programs without leveraging the content distribution and linking benefits of social web participation makes link building for SEO an uphill battle. The entire concept and nature of the social web encourages participation: sharing, voting, commenting and linking. A link campaign cannot be fully successful without bloggers and community sites like Digg and StumbleUpon which adds authority to link by voting for it.

Social Media Needs SEO

The relationship between SEO and social media flows both ways. Implementing a social media marketing program without optimizing content is leaving money on the table. Your success in social media will partly depend on search rankings in a blog search tool and the general search results. And, of course, blogs cannot survive without SEO. You can broadcast your posts on other social media platform but you will only be reaching the audience you acquired through your social media tactics. Only SEO can drive new traffic to your blog.

SEO and social media are mated for life. A professional SEO will make the most out of combining SEO insights with social media marketing tactics in order to make the marketing campaign travel on the right track towards success.
